The important warehouse and mail order building in Otelfingen's industrial zone from 1967 attracts special attention with its imposing size of over 300 meters and plays a very special role in the industrial zone of Otelfingen.
In addition, the architectural character of the building from the 1960s proves fascinating, which has led to it being listed as a historical monument.
Attention is now to be focused on industrial development. And that's where the VDE comes in.
The sheer scale of the project presented a particular challenge. Handling the enormous amount of data generated by the laser scanning and subsequent 3D modeling was also a challenge for us.
This project was so large that it had to be divided into ten building sections and six terrain sections in order to effectively handle the huge amount of data with Vectorworks.
Early on in the project, we recognized the importance of working closely with the architectural team. Together, we set out to understand and meet the requirements for the BIM structure.
To facilitate this process, we set up a test area where we could familiarize ourselves with the desired BIM structure. Several productive online meetings were held where we were able to learn the intricacies of modeling according to the architects' modern BIM expectations.
By integrating laser scanning and 3D BIM modeling, we overcame the challenges associated with the volume of data and met the expectations set by the architectural team for a modern BIM model. This solidifies VDE's reputation as a reliable partner on transformative projects of all sizes.
